A concept conceived by florist Jennifer Debrah of Debrah J Events, a host of Yorkshire-based suppliers share the details of this seasonal wedding shoot. 


What was the inspiration behind the shoot?

The colourful, romantic beauty of the autumn season influenced the inspiration for this styled shoot. We wanted to embrace the natural, rich colour palette to demonstrate to brides-to-be just how romantic and intimate a wedding could be during this season.

Tell us a little bit about the venue and why it was chosen

As it gets dark quiet early in the day in autumn, we were looking for a venue that offers a lot of natural light, which is always better than artificial light. The glass walls and ceiling of Kings Croft Hotel in Pontefract gave the unique feeling of being outdoors but still warm and cosy.

What did you choose for the flower arrangements?

Roses, chrysanthemums, calla rudolph, lisianthus , Italian ruscus, ruscus lemon leaf, gunni Eucalyptus, eucalyptus cinerea, waxflower, oakleaf palustris, ilex red berry, ilex winter gold, skimmia japonica rubella, amaryllis loyalty, leucospermum jelena, asparagus meyers, carnations.

What kind of look did you want to achieve with the make-up, hair and outfits for the bride and groom?

Our aim was to create a look that translated autumnal vibes. We wanted to create a strong and striking image with the bride and groom while still having a romantic feel. Our models, Kit and Ben, made the perfect couple, demonstrating both a delicate and alternative aesthetic.

Moreover, we tried to keep it as simple and elegant as possible with a nude palette and gold accents for make-up and simple curls, nothing too complex.

We chose a statement long-sleeved dress to go with the autumnal theme. We wanted to bridge the seasons of summer and winter with an off-white, U-shaped back. The suit was just perfect for the time of the year and complemented the colours perfectly, alongside the bow tie and buttonhole.

What was the thinking behind the décor for the shoot? How did you tie it all together?

We wanted the shoot to translate love, warmth, romance and intimacy. We chose to go with a long table design, dressed with a rich cascading floral arrangement surrounded by the beauty of soft flickering candle lights.

What kind of accessories were used to create these looks and why?

Thanks to our amazing team of wedding suppliers, we managed to create an all-encompassing autumn look. We had gold and glass tableware, ivory menu cards and golden elements incorporated into the wedding cake.

Candles were a must, so we used the classic combination of ivory and burgundy across the dinner table. The groom’s bow tie and boutonniere was a mixed combination of foliage with burnt orange and burgundy flowers, intentionally chosen to complement the bride’s make-up and bouquet.
